AMERICAN FARM PULLERS ASSOCIATION

Pro Farm Turbo     9500 lb.

Rules: All General Rules and Safety Rules apply to the Turbo Class unless otherwise specified in the following rules:

Engine: Engine, not to exceed 640 ci., must be of same manufacture as tractor with the same number of cylinders. (I.E. an International tractor must have an International engine.) Engine must bolt in manufacturer's intended location. Only factory equipped intercoolers using engine coolant allowed.

Engine RPM:  Engine is not to exceed 3000 RPM under no-load conditions. Throttle arm must hit stop screw on injector pump. Each tractor will be checked while in line and waiting to hook. RPM to be checked by Tech Committee with photo-tach or other means furnished by the AFPA.

Charger/Injector Pump Setup:  3 in 3 out small foot: any pump up to and including a bosh p pump is allowed.

Bushing: Reducing bushings or sleeves will not be permitted in either case.

Bolt-ons: Tractors built as naturally aspirated may use bolt on Turbochargers.

Water Injection:  Water injection allowed. No pressurized tank systems are allowed.

Maximum tire sizes: 20.8 x 38 any cut tires allowed.

Protest Rule: If a tractor is protested, the protest must be made to a member of the Tech Committee by a competitor in same class either before the pull starts or before the tractor in question leaves the pulling track. A protest fee of $500 must be paid by protestor, which will go to protestee if the tractor is found to be legal. All points and prize money for that pull will be forfeited, protest fee returned to protester, and protestee barred from pulling at club sanctioned pulls for one year, if tractor found to be illegal or refusal of tear down.

Turbo Safety Rules

Air Kill:  Any positive air kill device must be placed on the inlet side of the charger to prevent the ability to build boost. The cable or linkage used to activate this device must be accessible to the sled and driver while in seated position.

Exhaust Pipe:  Two 3/8 inch, Grade 5 min. bolts must be placed at 90 degrees and less than 1 inch apart in the pipe and after the charger outlet.

Hood Line:   All chargers must be under the stock hood or be shielded 360 degrees. If hood is fiberglass charger must be shielded.

Side Shields: If side shields are used they must be made of either 0.060 inch min. thickness aluminum or 0.030 inch min. thickness steel. If used, shields must cover the entire engine compartment. Side shields must be easily removable.

Dead Man Throttle:  Throttle must be spring loaded or otherwise made so that, if released, the engine returns to an idle while running.

Fire Extinguisher:  All tractors are to carry a working ABC or Halon type extinguisher that is readily accessible to the driver while in the seated position.

Tip-Over Bars:  Required as per Safety Rules.

Roll Cage: Recommended in 2008. Roll cage required for 2009!!!

Modified Farm STOCK

  1. All general and safety rules apply to farm stock class.

  2. Maximum tire sizes per weight class are:  
               *5000 & 6000lb. - 15.5 x 38 or 16.9 x 30
               *7500, 9000 &10,000lb. - 18.4 x 38

  3. Shaved tires are allowed as long as front of cleat has not been cut.

GENERAL RULES

  • Engine must be of same manufacture as tractor with same number of cylinders.

  • Must bolt in manufacturer's intended location without modification.

  • Gas, diesel or LP fuels only. No fuel additives. No P pumps in modified stock. Manifolds must be cast. No headers.

  • Turbo chargers allowed in Turbo Class only.

  • All tractors must have stock frames, transmissions and axle housings.

  • Weights, brackets or any part of the tractor may not extend forward more than 11 feet from the center of the rear axle or rearward past plane of the rear tires. Turbo class is allowed 13 feet from center of axle forward.

  • Drawbar may be no shorter than 18 inches from the centerline of the rear axle to the point of hook and no higher than 20 inches and stationary in all directions with a 3 inch opening in drawbar or clevis.

  • Tractor may not be required to have PTO.

  • A factory 75 or more horsepower must pull 7500lb or above.

  • If 5 or less pullers in a weight class, two entries per tractor allowed, but only one can place.

  • The first puller, will be the test puller in each class, has the option to keep the pull or drop to third position or last. In pull-off, pullers get only one start.

  • If the puller attempts to stop before the 75 foot mark, the puller will be given one restart.

  • If the tractor touches the boundary line during the pull, except after 300 feet, the tractor will be disqualified.

  • If any weight or part falls to the ground while hooked to the sled, the tractor is disqualified. If due internal breakage, a measurement will be taken.

SAFETY RULES

  1. Front weights must be secured by metal pin or bracket.

  2. Any tractor turning over 3000 RPM must have high speed fan or electric fan, a dead man throttle and safety blanket or steel scatter shield 8" wide x 3/8" thick, 360 degrees around clutch housing.

  3. All tractors are recommended to have fenders and side shields.

  4. A fire extinguisher is mandatory on all tractors.

  5. Weights may not be mounted on any part of draft arms of 3 point hitch.

  6. Tip-over bars required. Minimum requirements are:
          * Tip-over bars must not be attached to drawbar.
          * Pads are to be 5 inches square and 20 inches apart.
          * Pads must be 5 inches behind plane of rear tire and a maximum of 10 inches above ground.
          * Tip-over bars must support weight of tractor in it's heaviest class.
          * Jacking up tractor by pads is test of strength and the tech committee may perform this test.

  7. Working kill switch is required on all tractors.

  8. Any contestant under 18 years of age must have one parent or guardian sign release of liability before pulling.

  9. Tech committee may inspect tractors at any time.

  10. The tech committee will enforce all rules and rule on any unforeseen problems or oversights and their ruling will be final.

Light Pro Stock Turbo 8500 lb.

Tires:  Maximum 20.8 x 38

Age of Driver: 18 years or older

Fuel: Diesel fuel only, water injection okay. No combustible fuels in water.

Cylinder Block or Crank Case: Must be from the same manufacturer and must bolt in stock location without modification. All engines must 540 cubic inches or smaller. All engine upgrades must be approved.

Heads: Cast iron heads only. Must be from same manufcturer. No over head cams allowed.

Injector Pumps. One only: P Pump maximum, one plunger per cylinder. No computerized. No computerized fuel systems allowed.

Turbo. One Only. Manifolds: One single stage turbo allowed. Maximum 3" compressor wheel. The wheel may be no larger than this measurement at the inlet. Tips of wheel must protrude into opening at least .25". No slots or grooves. All air must enter the compressor housing inlet. No external altering of compressor housings. Any size exhaust outlet and housing. Turbo must not extend through hood. Manifolds must be from same manufacturer and must bolt onto head without modification, alteration for turbo mounting allowed. Combine manifolds okay. No intercoolers.

RPMs: Open

Draw Bar: Drawbars must not exceed 20 inches in height or less than 18 inches from center of axle to hooking point. No part of draw bar may extend rearward beyond point of hook. Drawbars must be stationary in all directions. No clevis.

Hood, Grill, Frame, Transmission, Rear End, Axle:  Must be for that make and model and must maintain stock appearance. Front ends may be homemade with a maximum of 114" wheelbase. Frames may be homemade but must maintain stock appearance. Upgrades on sheet metal must be approved.

Total Length of Tractor:  Maximum length of 13' from center of rear axle to the furthest point forward, including weights.

Safety Equipment: Helmet, fire suit, wheelie bars, roll cages, kill switches, fire extinguishers, fenders, side shields, no steel fans, all electric fuel pumps must be wired t the kill switch. Wide front axles. No cast iron engine frames. (Ladder bars are recommended).

8000 lb. Pro Stock Diesel 4x4

  1. Diesel fuel only.

  2. No nitrous, no propane, no alcohol allowed. Single turbo charger any size or 2 small chargers on a common manifold.

  3. Hanging weights allowed. Farthest point 60 inches from center line of front axle. All weights must be secured.

  4. DOT tires only. NO DUALS ALLOWED!!!

  5. Stock drive train only. No drop boxes, reversers or after market transfer cases.

  6. No rigid suspension, stock suspension may be blocked.

  7. Must pull from a "Reese" style hitch. hook point must be no closer than 48 inches from center line of rear axle, 3 inch opening horizontal to ground.

  8. 26 inch hitch height.

  9. Traction/Ladder bars allowed.

  10. Exhaust must exit straight up or straight down. Must have 2 grade 5 or better 3/8 bolts 1/2 apart 90 degrees from each other, not to exceed 12 inches from exhaust impeller.

  11. Engine must be out of 1 ton or smaller truck. Engine must be OEM or replacement.

  12. Blow proof bellhousing and or scatter blanket required.

  13. Drive shaft loops required.

  14. Water injection permitted. No pressurized bottles.

  15. All truck must have air kill terminated at rear of vehicle, and an air kill or fuel dump accessible to driver.

  16. Fire extinguisher REQUIRED!!!

  17. Tech and track officials decisions final.

7500 lb. Street Legal Diesel 4x4   15 MPH speed limit

  1. No pressurized bottles, no propane, no flammable liquids.

  2. No water injection. No hanging weight.

  3. Must have full interior and exterior.

  4. Must be street legal. Proof of insurance, license and registration.

  5. Singer charger not to exceed 2.5" at face of inlet.

  6. DOT tires, no sharpening, no cuts, no studs. Factory dual wheels permitted.

  7. No after mark transfer case or transmissions.

  8. Rear suspension must be stock. No stock blocks.

  9. Must pull from a "Reese" style hitch, at farthest most point to rear vehicle.

  10. 26" hitch height, 3" opening or twisted clevis.

  11. No traction or ladder bars. No suspension modifications of any kind.

  12. Exhaust must exit straight up or straight down.

  13. Engine must be factory or replacement. No engine swaps between manufacturers.

  14. RPMs not to exceed 3500 RPMs. Checked by tech committee.

  15. Air cleaner must be factory or acceptable after market.

  16. Drive shaft loops permitted but  not required.

  17. Air shut off and fuel dump permitted but not required.

  18. Fire extinguisher required!!!

  19. All protests must be made to tech committee before pull is over, by a participant of this class.

  20. Track and tech officials decisions are final!!!

  21. SPEED LIMIT 15 MPH           3RD HORN DQ'S

Open Street Licensed Gasoline 4x4 Trucks

  1. This is an open street legal 4x4 truck class available to currently licensed owners of gasoline fueled trucks that are legal for highway use. If your truck is street legal and is built to the rules set forth herein, you can enter this class. Registration papers are required to prove that the truck is licensed for street use. A license plate with a current sticker tag is required to be affixed to the truck. Registration papers and license plate and sticker tag must match. Trucks may be hauled to the pull.

  2. Weight class is 6200 lbs. No weight brackets or hanging weights allowed on front of vehicles. Weights must be in cargo area only and securely fastened or contained safely therein. No weights allowed under the body/chasis or behind panels/parts.

  3. No dual wheels, studded tires, tire chains or any tire not specifically intended for street use are permitted. All tires must carry a DOT number on the side wall. DOT number must be easily read from the outside of the tire. No cut, altered or sharpened tires.

  4. Front bumpers must be unaltered factory stock. No weighted front devices are permitted - This includes but is not limited to: homemade bumpers, brush guards and winches. Lower brackets (only) for snow plow frames are permitted so long as no modification that would add weight are determined. An unaltered decorative brush guard may be permitted at the option of the head official. A truck is permitted to compete WITHOUT a front bumper.

  5. The hitch point will be from the rear bumper only  or from a "Reese" type hitch on a level plane with the point of attachment to the truck's frame behind  the pumpkin of the rear end. No other types of hitches are permitted.  Hitch point may not be more than 26" from the ground. Hitch point must be horizontal - parallel to the ground. No angled, lever, pivot, axis or other types of 'trick' hitches are allowed and the hitch must be stationary in all directions. The hook point must be the furthest point to the back of truck. Hook point must be past the bed of the truck if there is no bumper, or past the end of the bumper. Shortening of the bed in order to shorten the hook point is not permitted. Each truck driver must supply a twisted clevis. The hole for hitching must accommodate a minimum of 3.5 inches across.

  6. Gasoline is the only fuel permitted.  No aluminum engine blocks are permitted unless OEM. Absolutely no alcohol, nitrous oxide or other oxygen extenders. Turbo-blue and cam-2 are permitted. Headers are approced by all exhaust must run through a muffler system. No super chargers or turbo chargers permitted. Swaps between manufacturers are not permitted.

  7. No solid suspensions are permitted. Suspension must have a minimum of two inches of movement at all times. No blocks are allowed between axle housing truck frame that would restrict the necessary two inches of movement. Lift kits are acceptable.

  8. Truck must be stock in appearance.  Floor in bed must be solid. the wheelbase may not be changed. Wooden flatbeds are permitted.

  9. Transmission and transfer case must be OEM and available in one ton (or smaller) pick-up trucks.

  10. Driver's window must be rolled up completely while competing. Drivers are urged to wear a seatbelt or shoulder harness and a motor sport type helmet when hooked to the sled. Passengers are not permitted in the truck.
