DEMOLITION DERBY Thursday, August
5,2010 - 8:00 PM
DEMOLITION DERBY is promoted as an unusual spectator
attraction. In the interest of safety, anyone entering is
subject to, and must obey, the following rules and
regulations which are set up by the promoter and the track
where the event is being held: A. Each driver
must fill out an entry blank and supply his or her own car
with proof of ownership. Both driver and any pit men
entering the pit area must sign a release form.
B. Each driver must be 18 years or older, or hold a valid
senior operator's license and have a notarized release
signed by his or her parent or guardian. C.
The track or promoter reserves the right to approve or
reject any and all entries and contestants of DEMOLITION
DERBY are not employees of the track organization, Fair
Association or promoter of the DEMOLITION DERBY.
D. Only persons who sign the release form
will be permitted in the pit area, emergency vehicle area or
on the track. Pit passes will be issued with car
registration the day of the show. E. The
promoter, track owner, organization, or Fair Association
will not be responsible for any cars, parts or personal
property at any time. PREPERATION OF CAR

No trucks, convertibles, hearses,
limousines or Imperials allowed. Any other American
stock hardtop automobile or station wagon will be
permitted.

Removal of the following is required:
All glass, including the wind shield, side windows
(rolling down the windows is not permitted), rear
window, head and tail lights, chrome molding strips. The
bottom of the rear seat, and sharp protruding fins or
dangerous objects (mash or cut off).

No special bumpers, reinforcements,
fabrications, or trailer hitches are allowed.

Welded solid or chained down engine
mounts are recommended.
-
Radiators and heater cores must remain
in the original location or be removed.
-
Roll over bars are allowed but not
required.
-
For the safety of the driver all doors
must be fastened shut with wire, strap, or welded.
-
Only one battery of any size will be
allowed. It may be moved to any position in the lower
section of the car, but it must be fastened securely and
covered.
-
Cutting of the fenders for wheel
clearance only is permitted. The ends of the bumpers may
be cut off.
-
All cars must have hoods. A steel bar
may be attached from the fire wall to the top of the car
to protect the driver. Hoods and trunk lids may be
fastened down in 4 places. Use no more than 2 strands of
wire through each hole. No welds on hood or trunk lids.
Remove the hood latch.

The gas tank must be drained or removed.
The gas supply must be moved from the stock tank to the
back seat or the trunk area in front of the rear axle. A
portable tank (metal can) with a hose or tubing
connected to the stock gas line is recommended. The tank
must be securely fastened to the floor and covered. Four
(4) gallons of gas will be permitted per heat. No
electric fuel pumps are permitted.

A maximum of 4 bands around the
floorboards and the frame rails, between the drivers
seat and the rear bumper will be permitted to hold the
body on the frame.

Springs must be visible! (no covering
with tape, etc.) Maximum of 9 leaves per side
(must be stair stepped). Leaf springs are allowed to be
wired, bolted or welded (2 in front and 2 in rear.)
Welds or plates for welding can be no wider than 1
1/2 inches.

Car must be swept clean. No junk, tires,
wheels, glass, metal, parts, etc., are allowed to be
left in the car during the derby.

Each car must be signed in and inspected
at the track at least one half hour before show time.
-
It is recommended that the driver's door
be reinforced inside with the steel bar, angle iron, or
pipe. Length not to exceed more than 8 inches on either
side of the door.
-
An 8 inch opening over the air cleaner
must be cut in the hood.
-
No double tires on. Rough treads, winter
treads, or mud treads are recommended. Track will be
wet!!! Must be a DOT approved tire.
-
A strong wire or nylon mesh screen is
recommended in the driver's door window. Plexiglas is
recommended in the windshield opening.

TRACK RULES
-
A safety belt and Z-90 approved helmet
and goggles or face shield are required.
-
No alcoholic beverages are permitted on
the fairgrounds. Anyone under the influence of alcohol
or drugs will be immediately disqualified and removed
from the grounds without refund of any entrance fee.

Boundaries of the arena must be
observed. Failure to observe boundaries will result in
disqualification.
-
No deliberate head on collision and no
deliberate hitting in the driver's door.
-
Cars must have dependable brakes at all
times. If your brakes fail, do not move your car.
-
A vehicle will be disqualified if the
driver's door comes open any time during the event.
-
A one minute time limit will be
enforced by the track officials for restarts and making
contact with another car. Hits must be aggressive.
Simple contact within the time does not constitute
combat and could be considered sandbagging.

All drivers and pit men must attend
driver's meeting before the show.
-
All cars must be removed from the
fairgrounds and racetrack following the show or they
will become property of Tyler Co. Fair Association, and
the officials will have them removed (unless otherwise
specified at the driver's meeting.)

A $25.00 protest fee is required to
protest another car. Protest must be made 15 minutes
before the first heat.

A fire extinguisher is recommended at
close reach in the driver's compartment. Additional
safety regulations may be imposed depending on the
opinion of track officials.
-
Decision of the official judge is final.
All rules are subject to change without notice. The
derby will be composed of individual heats and one
feature.
